Sterner Appoints New CEO

Stian Johnsen

Sterner is pleased to announce the appointment of Stian Johnsen as the new CEO. Johnsen has been a key part of Sterner since 2019 and is now stepping up to lead the company into a new era.

«We considered several strong candidates, but Stian Johnsen stood out early on as the natural choice,» says Chairman Johannes Sundet. «This appointment is crucial for Sterner, which has undergone significant changes. We took the time necessary to make the right decision while former CEO Bjarne E. Pettersen led the company during the transition. The board is confident we have chosen the best leader, and Johnsen has our full trust. We have great faith in both him and Sterner’s future,» says Sundet.

With nearly 20 years of experience in process industries, including oil and gas, waste treatment, and aquaculture, Johnsen has extensive expertise in water treatment and sustainable technology. In recent years, he has been a key player in Sterner’s development, particularly in the aquaculture sector, and has led the project organization as Project Director over the past year.

Johnsen’s appointment as CEO marks a fresh start for Sterner, which has undergone a challenging restructuring process after plans to invest in land-based aquaculture were put on hold. With a new strategy and a clear focus on further developing Sterner as a dedicated technology provider, the company is now well-positioned for the future.

«It’s a great honour to be entrusted with leading Sterner forward. I look forward to building on the solid foundation that has been laid and continuing the work to strengthen our position as a leading provider of innovative water treatment technology,» says Johnsen.

With several contracts secured over the past year in its core business, and with Stian Johnsen at the helm, Sterner is ready to continue its efforts to become a leading player in water treatment technology.
